A Voice in the Wind
After Roman soldiers destroy Jerusalem and massacre her family, a young Jewish-Christian woman named Hadassah is sold into slavery and taken to Rome. She serves Julia Valerian, a pleasure-seeking noblewoman, while secretly clinging to her forbidden faith. Her quiet devotion draws the notice of Julia's brother Marcus, creating conflict between love and conscience.
What happens (ending included)
In AD 70, Jerusalem fell to Roman forces and Hadassah's entire family perished. She was taken to Rome as a slave and purchased by the Valerian family to serve as handmaid to their teenage daughter Julia. Julia, rebellious and eager for pleasure, initially disliked Hadassah for her homely appearance but eventually came to trust her and rely on her gentleness and unconditional care. Hadassah grew brave enough to speak of her belief in Jesus to others. Marcus, the Valerians' oldest son, became intrigued by Hadassah's innocence and unwavering faith and began falling in love with her. Hadassah felt the same attraction but feared loving Marcus would distance her from God since he was not a Christian. When Marcus confessed his love and proposed marriage, Hadassah faced a painful decision between her devotion to God and her feelings for him. Meanwhile, Atretes, a captured German tribesman forced to fight as a gladiator, survived on pride and hatred for Rome but sank into bitterness and despair at entertaining the mob.
