Timothy Snyder is a historian of 20th-century Europe who holds the inaugural Temerty Chair in Modern European History at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. He speaks five and reads ten European languages. His books include Bloodlands, Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning (2015), and On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century (2017), a New York Times bestseller.
