Amazon MGM Studios' adaptation of Lauren Asher's Formula 1 romance Throttled has added two more names to its ensemble. Deadline reported on 26 October 2026 that Mia McKenna-Bruce has signed on, and then reported on 29 October that Rome Flynn (Godfather of Harlem, How to Get Away With Murder) has joined as well.
The film is based on the first book in Asher's Dirty Air series. No premiere date has been set, according to TV Insider.

Who plays whom in the paddock

McKenna-Bruce will play Sophie Mitchell, according to The Fan Carpet, which also lists Nicole Wallace as Maya Alatorre and Josh Heuston as Noah Slade. The same outlet credits Nzingha Stewart as director, working from a screenplay by Melissa Osborne.
Flynn will portray Jax Kingston, according to Europe Says, described as a highly skilled and competitive driver for Team McCoy who shares a tense rivalry with Noah Slade. The detail is attributed there to sources close to production who spoke to Deadline.
Cinema Express notes that Flynn joins Wallace, Heuston, Julio Pena and McKenna-Bruce. Fangirlish lists Pena as Santi Alatorre, Maya's older brother and a driver on the circuit, with McKenna-Bruce as Sophie, Maya's best friend.

A British awards-winner in a growing ensemble

Deadline describes McKenna-Bruce as a BAFTA Rising Star Award winner, and her casting arrives with a sequel angle: The Fan Carpet notes that her character is also central to the second novel in the series. That detail may matter if the studio has ambitions beyond a single film, though none has been announced.
Asher and Alison Small are executive producers, according to Tribune. Heuston was the first lead to be confirmed, as Marie Claire Australia noted when announcing the casting.

Throttled: the book behind the film

Throttled is a contemporary romance set during a Formula 1 World Championship season, told from the alternating perspectives of driver Noah Slade and Maya Alatorre, whose brother is Noah's direct rival on the circuit. For LuvemBooks' verdict on the novel itself, read our review.
