India Hayford is a naturalist, teacher, historical reenactor, artist, and author. Born in southwestern Arkansas, her family roots in the region stretch back to the 1830s, and her family tree farm still stands in Hempstead County. She spent her childhood following her father's law enforcement career across Texas and beyond. She now lives with her husband in Wyoming, returning annually to southwest Arkansas.
