Where should I start?
Start with Heat 2: A Novel, because it is the only Michael Mann book LuvemBooks has reviewed. It also has a clear entry point for crime-thriller readers: it serves as both prequel and sequel to the 1995 film Heat and follows Vincent Hanna, Neil McCauley and Chris Shiherlis. Its reader rating is 4.6/5 from 6,611 Amazon ratings.
What's their writing style?
From the single reviewed title, Mann's fiction approach is closely tied to crime cinema: Heat 2: A Novel extends the 1995 film Heat in both directions and centers Hanna, McCauley and Shiherlis. The clearest stylistic signal in our coverage is emphasis on heist set pieces, which bloggers praised. The main caution is structural: the Washington Post found the book shapeless, so the same canvas that excites action readers may feel loose to others.
