Elsie Silver, author portrait

Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver is a romance author. She is known for the Chestnut Springs series, and Powerless is the named book associated with it. That places her work in contemporary romance rather than historical, paranormal, or fantasy romance, with the central relationship carrying the narrative and the town around it helping to define stakes, loyalties, and obstacles.

The series is described as blending small-town settings with character-driven storytelling, and Powerless is the confirmed example of that approach. The safe identifying points are author, series, and book: Elsie Silver; Chestnut Springs; Powerless. It should not imply a completed series, a fixed number of volumes, awards, adaptations, sales claims, dates, or books beyond Powerless; a concise entry is preferable to an inflated one.

Powerless is the third book in Elsie Silver's Chestnut Springs contemporary romance series, following childhood friends Sloane — a ballerina turned runaway bride — and Jasper, a quiet, self-contained professional hockey player, as their impromptu road trip forces both to reckon with long-buried feelings. Silver's strength with layered main characters is on full display, though some readers find the surrounding cast less convincing than the central pair.
